Buying a security camera can seem straightforward until you start comparing the specifications.
4K. 2K. AI detection. Colour night vision. PoE. Wi-Fi. Cloud storage. Local storage. Solar power. Different lenses. Different sensors.
The problem is that a camera with the biggest number on the product page isn't necessarily the best camera for your home.
The right security camera depends on where you're installing it, what you want it to capture, how you want it powered and how you want your footage stored.
This guide breaks down the most important things to consider before buying a security camera, so you can make a decision based on what actually matters.
Before looking at specifications, decide what you need the camera to do.
A camera watching your front door has very different requirements from one monitoring a large driveway or rear garden.
